BRD 2.8 Create Email Campaign

An email campaign has five stages, not four. The wizard opens at /bvoice/broadcast-new/campaigns/create/email and its stage indicator reads:

  1. Campaign Details
  2. Templates
  3. Editor
  4. Audience & Schedule
  5. Review

Note the differences from the SMS wizard. Template selection and content editing are two separate stages, and audience and schedule are combined into one.

Stage 1 of 5, Campaign Details

Headed Campaign Details, with the instruction "Enter the basic details for your email campaign".

FieldControlNotes
Campaign NameText, placeholder Enter campaign nameMandatory.
Description (Optional)Text area, placeholder Brief description of your campaignOptional, and labelled so.
Email SubjectText, placeholder Enter email subject lineMandatory.
Preview TextText, placeholder Write a short text (about 35 characters)Optional, but not labelled as optional. See the note below.
From NameText, placeholder Company or sender nameMandatory.
From EmailEmail field, placeholder sender@example.comMandatory. The browser applies its own address-format check.
Reply-to Email (Optional)Email field, placeholder replies@example.comOptional, and labelled so.
ThrottleOn/off switchSame undocumented switch as the SMS wizard. See the note in BRD 2.4.

The mandatory set is Campaign Name, Email Subject, From Name and From Email. Next Step stays greyed out until all four hold a value. Clearing any one of them disables it again.

Preview Text helper text. The Preview Text helper text explains the field in full: "Write a short text (about 35 characters) that gives an overview of the content of your email. This will significantly increase your opening rate. This feature is supported by most email clients, like Gmail and Yahoo. The text will be displayed in your recipient's inbox, just below the subject."

Stage 2 of 5, Templates

Headed Templates, with the instruction "Choose a template for your email". It offers:

  • Select a Template, with two sub-tabs, System Templates and My Templates.
  • Compose New Email, to build the email from scratch.
  • View Preview.

My Templates is the active sub-tab when the stage opens. My Templates is the active sub-tab when the stage opens, even though System Templates is listed first. To use a template, select the sub-tab, then the template. To skip templates entirely, select Compose New Email, which advances straight to the Editor stage.

Next Step status. Next Step is greyed out until a template is chosen or Compose New Email is selected.

Stage 3 of 5, Editor

Headed Editor, with the instruction "Customize your email content". The stage carries a Save Compose button alongside Back and Next Step.

Embedded editor. The email body is built in an embedded third-party editor. The editing area is an Unlayer email builder (editor.unlayer.com, version 1.468.0 on this build) loaded inside the page. It is a drag-and-drop builder with its own content blocks, its own toolbars and its own settings panels, none of which belong to NCS.

  1. Build the email body in the embedded editor.
  2. Select Save Compose to commit the content to the campaign.
  3. Select Next Step to move to Audience & Schedule.

Save Compose requirement. Next Step is greyed out until Save Compose has been used. Verified: selecting Save Compose enables Next Step. No confirmation message is shown for the save itself; the enabled Next Step is your only feedback.

Stage 4 of 5, Audience & Schedule

One page, two blocks.

Audience. A Select Contact List dropdown, with each option showing its contact count, exactly as on the SMS wizard (BRD 2.5). Choose the list before continuing.

Schedule. Headed Scheduling Options: Send immediately, or Schedule for later, which reveals Date (Pick a date), Time and Timezone.

Stage 5 of 5, Review

Headed Campaign Details, "Review and confirm your campaign details". This screen is well-built, and it is what the SMS and Voice review screens should look like. It restates:

PanelContents
Campaign NameAs entered.
Subject LineAs entered.
FromName and address together, in the form NCS Docs <docs@example.com>.
Reply-ToThe reply address. If you left Reply-to Email empty on stage 1, this shows your From Email, so replies come back to the sending address.
AudienceThe contact list with its contact count, for example List1787117013 ( 9 Contacts ).
ScheduleA one-line statement of the send timing.
Email PreviewThe rendered email, including an automatic Unsubscribe footer: "If you no longer wish to receive these emails, you can unsubscribe at any time."

Below sits the consent gate, with email-specific wording: "I confirm that all recipients have given explicit consent to receive this campaign and that it complies with applicable email marketing regulations." The validation line "You must confirm consent compliance." shows while unticked, and Create Campaign stays greyed out until the box is ticked. Verified.

Automatic Unsubscribe link. The platform adds an Unsubscribe link to your email automatically. It appears in the preview without being built in the editor. Do not add a second unsubscribe mechanism of your own, and do not attempt to remove this one: in most jurisdictions it is what makes the campaign lawful.
